Emperador Brown | OPP3

The term “Emperador marble” refers to the most famous variety of brown marble, characterized by a crystalline brown background embellished by a dense network of veins. Emperador marble comes from southern Spain: the quarries of this brown marble are in fact found in the Spanish provinces of Alicante and Murcia.
Emperador brown is a metamorfic rock consisting mainly in calcium carbonate.
The Emperdor brown marble can have empty spaces inside, which are closed with resins and small- sized granulates of the same marble. It can present “orange mottles”, which are typical characteristics of this marble and therefore cannot be considered defects (see picture of the marble block, which shows that this is an original feature of the marble that is not filled in a second moment). Resining and filling processes, in the same colour as the marble or transparent, not orange, are carried out directly in the quarry after sawing the block.
